Summary of Duties
  • Providing administrative, clerical, and secretarial support to the nursing units, including:
    • Assisting in coordinating nursing unit activities;
    • Coordinating patient admission, discharge, and transfer;
    • Liaising with internal and external customers;
    • Responding to telephone and reception inquiries;
    • Performing other duties as required.
Qualifications/Skills
  • Successful completion of secondary school required;
  • Post-secondary business/secretarial courses preferred;
  • Successful completion of SHSC PAA training;
  • Computer skills including Windows and MS Word;
  • Keyboarding speed of 40 wpm or 106 kpm;
  • Minimum two years’ experience in a busy nursing unit, preferably in a healthcare environment;
  • Ability to work under pressure with flexibility and diplomacy;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups;
  • Excellent organizational skills.
