Job summary

University Health Network (UHN), Canada's leading hospital system, seeks a Pathologists' Assistant to join its Laboratory Medicine Program. The role supports the Division of Surgical Pathology and Autopsy Pathology, reporting to the departmental manager for operations and medical directors for delegated tasks.

This is a full-time position with 37.5 hours per week across all shifts. Join a premier diagnostic lab in Toronto, contributing to high-volume testing and groundbreaking research.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science (BSc) or MLT with advanced level courses in anatomy and physiology.
• Experience in surgical pathology specimen grossing is required.
• Graduate of a NAACLS PA training program is preferred.
• Current CCCPA and/or ASCP certification or ability to become certified is required.
• Knowledge of anatomy and physiology with emphasis on disease presentation.
• Strong observational and detail-oriented skills.
• Ability to work in a multi-functional team including medical personnel, other pathology assistants, MLTs and clerical staff.

Responsibilities

• Describe and dictate findings of specimens during grossing procedures.
• Photograph specimens.
• Maintain knowledge of medical-legal policies for specimen handling, autopsy, and patient privacy.
• Participate in quality management activities and uphold safe working practices.
