Job summary

William Osler Health System is seeking a part-time Medical Laboratory Assistant for the Emergency Department at Brampton Civic Hospital. This role includes day and night shifts, 8/12 hour lengths, and may require travel between Osler sites.

The ideal candidate will graduate from a certified MLA/technician program, hold relevant certification/registration, and demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and clinical skills, including ECGs and pediatric blood draws.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a certified medical laboratory assistant/technician program.
• Certification and registration with OSMT and/or CSMLS.
• Experience drawing blood from neonates, capillary blood draws, paediatric oncology and mental health patients.
• Excellent organization and communication skills.
• Strong medical terminology.
• May be required to travel between Osler sites.

Accountabilities:

• Performs venipuncture and capillary collections
• Contribute to ensuring a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors
• Graduate of a certified medical laboratory assistant/technician program
• Must have certification and registration with OSMT and/or CSMLS
• Excellent organization and communication skills
• Must have experience drawing blood from neonates, capillary blood draws, paediatric oncology and mental health patients

Hours: Currently days/nights, 8 and 12 hoursincluding weekends and statutory holidays (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)

SALARY:

Minimum: $31.13 per hour

Maximum: $37.05 per hour
