Pastry Sous Chef

Job Type: Permanent

Location: Home Block Restaurant at CedarCreek Estate Winery, Kelowna, B.C.

What You Have

  • 5-6 years’ experience in a similar standard of kitchen
  • Experience leading and managing a team, including mentoring junior chefs
  • Ability to maintain consistency in high-volume pastry production
  • Self-starter with problem-solving skills, high standards, and team spirit
  • Solid pastry techniques, good knowledge of ingredients and seasonality
  • Passion for creativity in pastry and desserts, with awareness of industry trends and new techniques
  • Ability to adapt menus and recipes based on seasonal ingredients and customer preferences
  • Positive work ethic and professional attitude
  • A desire to work in a fast-paced, scratch-made kitchen
  • Quick learner, capable of understanding, applying, and sharing knowledge effectively
  • Open availability until October

What You’ll Do

  • Contribute to an exceptional guest culinary experience
  • Manage the pastry station for lunch and dinner, maintaining standards set by the Head Pastry Chef
  • Plating and serving desserts and bread for the restaurant and events
  • Develop new dishes regularly
  • Perform daily mise en place and service to standards
  • Work with a seasonal, locally-sourced menu
  • Show willingness to learn, think ahead, and adapt
  • Handle daily service with confidence, sometimes taking on roles outside your usual responsibilities
