Job description

The Parts Technician is responsible for supporting the Fleet department by ensuring that mechanics have timely access to the parts required to meet daily operational demands. This role also includes providing support in the shop, yard, and warehouse as needed. The Parts Technician works closely with the Shop Supervisor to ensure an efficient and cost-effective supply of parts, contributing to the proper maintenance and availability of equipment for field crews.

Responsibilities:

1. Source, manage, and track parts, including maintaining minimal inventory levels.
2. Work closely with the shop manager and mechanics to facilitate quick turnaround on parts.
3. Manage shipping and receiving operations, ensuring timely distribution of parts.
4. Support extended teams with parts sourcing and purchase orders.
5. Maintain computerized records related to parts, inventory, and logistics.
6. Collaborate with the Shop Supervisor to manage fleet documents, administrative tasks, and compliance items.
7. Manage spreadsheets and ensure data accuracy.
8. Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of knowledge and skills required.
9. Monitor inventory levels, obsolescence, and parts purchases for manufacturer and aftermarket parts.
10. Organize, log, and maintain parts stock inventory.
11. Conduct annual physical inventory and reconciliation.
12. Prepare and maintain routine records and travel logs.
13. Compile data and prepare reports.
14. Operate vehicles and participate in receiving, storage, and distribution operations.
15. Plan daily parts pick-up routes and coordinate with vendors.

Requirements:

1. 3-5 years of experience in parts sourcing, inventory tracking, and supply chain management.
2. Experience with tool crib management is an asset.
3. Understanding of procedures for receiving, processing, storing, and distributing parts, materials, and equipment.
4. Strong communication skills and cultural awareness.
5. Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of the powerline trade and warehouse operations are assets.
6. Valid Class 1A Driver's License.
7. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
