Job summary

Joe Johnson Equipment (JJE) seeks a Parts Manager to oversee the daily operations of the Parts Department, manage inventory and supplier relationships, and lead a team of Parts Technicians and Shipper/Receivers. You will drive performance, ensure safety, and collaborate with Rentals, Sales, and Service to deliver exceptional customer service across Canada and the U.S.

The role requires 5+ years in parts or service, strong leadership, and proficiency with ERP systems.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in heavy equipment, construction, automotive parts or service.
  • Experience leading and managing a team.
  • 3–5 years in inventory management.
  • Strong computer skills including ERP/Inventory systems.
  • Mechanical aptitude with heavy equipment parts is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; collaborates across departments.
  • Reads and interprets safety rules and maintenance manuals.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily Parts Department operations with inventory management, order processing, purchasing, and customer service.
  • Manage performance through KPIs, budgeting, scheduling, and process improvement.
  • Coach and onboard Parts Technicians and Shipper/Receivers; ensure SOPs and safety.
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers and internal/external customers for timely sourcing and delivery.
  • Monitor inventory levels, sales activity, and purchasing trends; report to management.
  • Oversee parts sales, cross-selling, promotions, and prompt handling of inquiries.
  • Ensure efficient processes for purchasing, receiving, cycle counts, and order fulfillment.
  • Collaborate with Rentals, Sales, and Service to support operations and customer experience.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to support operations when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

About the Role

The Parts Manager will oversee the daily operations of the Parts Department ensuring optimal customer service and parts knowledge delivery to internal (Rentals, Sales and Service Departments) and external customers. This position is responsible for managing the branches parts inventory, maintaining accurate records and fostering strong relationships with suppliers. The Parts Manager will lead a dedicated team of Parts Technicians and Shipper/Receivers in terms of performance and efficiency to meet the needs of our customers and in supporting the overall success of the company.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead the daily operations of the Parts Department, ensuring efficient inventory management, order processing, purchasing, inventory accuracy, and exceptional customer service.
  • Manage departmental performance, including KPIs, inventory controls, financial performance, budgeting, workforce planning, scheduling, and continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Supervise, coach, develop, and onboard Parts Department employees, ensuring compliance with Company policies, standard operating procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Maintain effective relationships and communication with suppliers, Shipping & Receiving, customers, and internal departments to ensure the timely sourcing, ordering, and delivery of parts.
  • Monitor inventory levels, sales activity, purchasing trends, and departmental performance metrics, and provide reporting and recommendations to management.
  • Oversee parts sales activities, including customer support, cross-selling opportunities, promotional campaigns, and the prompt resolution of customer inquiries and concerns.
  • Ensure efficient departmental processes for purchasing, receiving, inventory control, cycle counts, parts research, and order fulfillment.
  • Collaborate with Rentals, Sales, and Service teams to support business operations and deliver a seamless customer experience.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, safety, and continuous improvement within the department.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation, as required, to support operational needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Total Rewards

Expected Hiring Range: $81,000 - $98,000 annually. The posted range reflects the Company's expected hiring range for this position. Compensation offered may vary based on relevant experience, qualifications, market conditions, and internal compensation considerations.

What You Bring
  • 5+ years’ experience in heavy equipment, construction or automotive parts and/or service environment
  • Previous experience in leading and managing a team
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Inventory Management
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and ERP/Inventory Management systems
  • Mechanical aptitude or previous exposure to heavy equipment parts
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to work well with individuals within and outside of the organization
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to prioritize and organize workload in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
  • Able to effectively communicate with all other departments in the facility
  • Detail-oriented individual with a strong work ethic and positive team attitude
Additional Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Business Diploma or Certificate considered an asset
  • Journeyperson Certification of Qualification considered an asset
  • Valid Class G driver’s license and a driving record that is satisfactory to the Company, as a requirement of the position
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including occasional lifting of materials (up to 50 lbs) and equipment, walking in yard/shop environments, and outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
  • Successful completion of any job-related background checks, reference checks, and verification processes required for the position, in accordance with applicable laws.
  • Work is performed in combination of office, shop, yard, warehouse environments
