Job summary

Stella’s Place Assessment and Treatment Centre in Toronto is seeking a part-time Kitchen Coordinator to oversee daily kitchen operations and food programming for young adults. The role is onsite 24 hours/week across Tue/Wed/Thu, 9:00am–5:00pm, for a one-year contract with trauma-informed, anti-oppressive practice.

You will lead food preparation, inventory, and snack/menu planning, while collaborating with peer support workers and staff to deliver nutritious, budget-friendly cooking activities.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience working as a cook, kitchen coordinator, food program worker, or in a community kitchen.
• Food Handler Certification or equivalent food safety certification.
• Experience with menu planning, recipe development, and food inventory management.
• Experience working with vulnerable, underserved populations is an asset.
• Experience working in mental health, social services, or non-profit environment is an asset.
• Experience as a group facilitator.
• Ability to lift, carry, and safely handle food supplies and kitchen equipment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the day-to-day operation of Stella’s Place kitchen.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen hygiene.
• Receive, sort, store food from donors and vendors.
• Manage food inventory and minimize waste.
• Develop snack plans, menus, and shopping lists.
• Prepare and set up snacks and food for programs.
• Coordinate food packages for participants to take home.
• Collaborate with peer support workers to plan cooking and food programming.
