Job summary

Conestoga College is seeking a Regular Part-Time Youth Development Program Educator to implement quality programs for children aged 0-12 and uphold CCEYA standards. The role is on-site at Driftwood Park Child and Youth Development Centre in Kitchener, Monday to Friday, 24 hours weekly, with split shifts 7:00–9:00 and 15:15–18:00.

Qualified candidates hold a two-year diploma in relevant fields or OCT/RECE designation, plus First Aid/CPR and a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check.

Qualifications

• Two-year diploma in Child and Youth Care or Recreation and Leisure Services.
• Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) designation.
• Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) designation.

Responsibilities

• Plan and adapt programs to meet needs of children aged 0-12.
• Ensure health and safety basics.
• Supervise all play areas and activities.
• Communicate with parents and relay messages.
• Share unusual situations with supervisor.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development.

Job description

Position Summary

Regular Part-Time Support Staff, replacement position

(First consideration for support staff and academic positions will be given to internal applicants in accordance with the respective collective agreements)

We require a qualified Educator to model the philosophy of the Conestoga College Early Learning Programs and maintain professional relationships with children, families, and educators. The Part-Time Youth Development Program Educator implements quality programs for children aged 0-12 years old. They are responsible for upholding the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) and the staff handbook guidelines.

Successful candidates will be required to conduct work on-site at the Driftwood Park Child and Youth Development Centre located at 50 Parkland Crescent in Kitchener. The Youth Development Program Educator will be scheduled to work Monday to Friday, 24 hours per week, which will include split shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

• Plans and adapts the program and environment to meet the needs of individual children, and implements quality programming for children ages 0-12 years old
• Ensures that the basic needs of children are met, including health and safety
• Provides ongoing supervision of all play areas and all activities and routines that occur
• Communicates respectfully with parents and ensures that messages are passed on to both parents and other staff
• Ensures that any unusual situations are shared with the supervisor
• Attends staff meetings, contributes to team discussions, and participates in professional development that is made available

Qualifications

• A two-year diploma in Child and Youth Care or Recreation and Leisure Services, or an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT), or a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) designation is required
• Standard First Aid and CPR training required
• Completion of a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check is required
