Job summary

Discovery Co-operative Ltd. in North Battleford, SK is hiring a Part-Time Yard Attendant I in our Lumber Department for the Home Store. You will receive, inspect, and organize incoming lumber and building materials, and assist customers in locating products.

You will also deliver materials when needed, maintain a clean, safe yard, follow safety procedures, and report discrepancies. Must be at least 18, able to lift 50–100 lbs, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of building materials is an asset.
• Co-operative retail experience is an asset.
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License is preferred.
• Must have basic math and reading skills.

Responsibilities

• Receive, inspect, and organize incoming lumber and building materials per policy.
• Deliver products safely, verify order accuracy, and complete delivery paperwork.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe lumber yard and follow opening/closing procedures.
• Provide exceptional customer service and promote Co-op membership.
• Operate equipment and complete safety checklists as required.
• Follow Co-op policies and perform other duties as assigned.

What you’ll do:

• Receive, inspect, and organize incoming lumber and building materials per Discovery Co-op policies; maintain accurate inventory and report discrepancies or damage.
• Deliver products efficiently and professionally, following all safety and legislative requirements; verify order accuracy and maintain delivery paperwork.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe lumber yard; sweep, stack, and arrange materials; follow opening and closing procedures.
• Provide exceptional customer service by assisting with inquiries, sharing store promotions, and promoting Co-op membership.
• Safely operate and maintain equipment, tools, and PPE; complete safety checklists, logbooks, and maintenance as required.
• Follow all Discovery Co-op policies and procedures; embody the Co-op brand and perform other duties as assigned.

Who you are:

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Basic knowledge of building materials is an asset.
• Co-operative retail experience is an asset.

• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and perform regular heavy lifting between 50 – 100 lbs.
• Will be required to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
