Qualifications

• Must possess a Food Handler's Certificate.
• Red Seal Certificate preferred.
• Experience in large quantity food preparation, preferably in healthcare or retirement settings.
• Knowledge of Provincial Food Premises Regulation and Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating.
• Knowledge of special and therapeutic diets.
• Physical ability to lift and transfer heavy items and stand for long periods.
• Second language proficiency is an asset.
• Vulnerable Sector Check or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and/or be responsible for the preparation/delivery of all foods for residents, guests and employees.
• Review menus and production sheets before preparing meals and serve attractively.
• Ensure proper food handling techniques.
• Complete daily temperature audits for fridges, freezers, and storerooms.
• Prepare and serve foods for therapeutic/special diets per planned menus.
• Adhere to time schedules for service of meals and nourishments.
• Follow daily production charts and standardized recipes within budget.
• Comply with provincial/municipal regulations and dietary policies.
• Attend staff meetings and training sessions.
