The role requires food handling certification, experience with large-scale and therapeutic diets, and adherence to provincial regulations.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Food Handler's Certificate.
• Red Seal Certificate preferred.
• Experience in large quantity food preparation, healthcare or retirement setting.
• Knowledge of Provincial Food Premises Regulation and Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating.
• Knowledge of and experience with special and therapeutic diets.
• Must be physically able to lift and stand for long shifts.
• Proficiency in a second language is an asset.
• Vulnerable Sector Check (within six months) or willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver meals for residents, guests and employees.
• Review menus and production sheets; serve meals attractively.
• Ensure proper food handling techniques.
• Complete daily temperature audits and record findings.
• Prepare meals for therapeutic diets.
• Follow production charts/recipes within budget.
• Comply with health and safety regulations and department policies.
• Attend staff meetings and training.
