Job summary

Great Canadian Entertainment seeks a Surveillance Operator to monitor casino operations, review footage, and document violations to protect assets and guests. You will support gaming departments while enforcing Alcohol and Gaming Commission standards and working across all shifts.

Strong observation, reporting, and communication skills are essential, along with basic computer proficiency and a Criminal Record Check.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Security experience is an asset.
  • GSO course and Security Guard Licence are assets.
  • Criminal Record Check completion.
  • Proficiency in English; additional languages are an asset.
  • Ability to work all shifts.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of computer applications.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, document and report violations, unsafe conditions, hazards, and suspicious activities.
  • Enforce restricted access for unauthorized persons.
  • Observe cashier transactions, slot drops, and transfers; escort cash movements.
  • Tag and report found property; transfer items to Lost and Found.
  • Conduct regular patrols of interior and exterior areas as directed.
  • Escort guests and employees as directed; perform identification checks.
  • Refer disputes to the Supervisor, Security and maintain logs.

Job description

Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Security Manager or designate, the Surveillance Operator is responsible for daily monitoring and observation of Casino operations, ensuring the security and integrity of Casino assets, staff and guests. The role involves reviewing footage, conducting routine checks of the gaming floor, documenting violations, and supporting other gaming departments in protecting company assets. Attention to detail and sound observation skills are critical when completing reports and logs that may be used as evidence in legal proceedings. One must enforce and comply with Alcohol and Gaming Commission and OLG standards.

Key Accountabilities
  • Monitoring, documenting and reporting internal and external violations, unsafe conditions, potential hazards, suspicious persons and activities;
  • Enforcing restricted access for unauthorized persons;
  • Observing cashier transactions, slot drops, chip/hopper fills and transfers; escorting cash and cash equivalent movements;
  • Tagging and reporting found property; transferring items to Lost and Found;
  • Conducting regular patrols of the facility interior and exterior as directed;
  • Escorting guests and employees as directed;
  • Performing identification checks as required;
  • Referring disputes to the Supervisor, Security;
  • Reporting procedural violations, large cash/cash equivalent transactions, excluded and self‑excluded guests and unauthorized access to the supervisor;
  • Maintaining accurate and concise logs and records;
  • Investigative skills required to report and document all irregular, unusual, suspicious and/or illegal activities;
  • Possessing strong communication skills to effectively deal with all operational departments;
  • Ensuring health and safety directives are followed, as well as other statutory regulations;
  • Performing other duties as assigned or directed;
  • Ensuring compliance with Alcohol and Gaming Commission regulation and all applicable laws, policies and procedures;
  • Ability to work all shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays;
  • Knowledge of gaming industry considered an asset;
  • Ability to exceed internal and external customer expectations through timely, effective and service‑oriented communication.
Educational and Functional Requirements
  • Work on an as‑needed basis; hours may vary depending on operational needs and include early mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights, graveyards and weekends as we operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week;
  • High School Diploma or equivalent;
  • Previous security experience an asset but not required;
  • Gaming Security Officer (GSO) course an asset;
  • Security Guard Licence an asset;
  • Proficiency in English; fluency in other languages an asset;
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously;
  • Ability to exceed internal and external customer expectations through timely, effective and service‑oriented communication;
  • Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check through the Independent Gambling Control Officer (IGCO);
  • Commitment to continually increase knowledge of our products and services in order to offer exceptional experiences to our guests;
  • Knowledge of computer applications—MS Word, Excel, Access, Power Point;
  • Training and certifications as required.
