Job summary

Cogir Senior Living is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to provide planned, patient-centered nursing care to residents in our Ottawa facilities. You will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to implement care plans, ensure accurate documentation, and mentor unregulated care providers.

The ideal candidate holds Ontario RPN registration, demonstrates compassion, teamwork, and strong communication skills, and is committed to high-quality elder care.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse in the applicable province.
• Experience working with seniors and with unregulated care providers preferred.
• Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community/complex/long term care an asset.
• Strong drive, respect and an understanding of the emotional and physical demands of the role.
• Focus on teamwork and customer service with the ability to build trusted relationships.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and critical thinking skills.
• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
• Computer proficiency and experience with Microsoft office applications.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification required.
• Current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one

Responsibilities

• Provide planned, patient-oriented, goal-directed nursing care in accordance with provincial standards.
• Build trusted relationships with residents, families and the multi-disciplinary team.
• Implement and evaluate care plans and make changes as required.
• Complete and ensure resident’s clinical care assessments, care plans and documentation are accurate and up to date.
• Teach, delegate and direct unregulated care providers, providing coaching and mentorship.
