Job summary

Cambrian College’s School of Skills Training is seeking part-time professors to teach in the Powerline Technician program starting in September 2026. To be considered, applicants must hold a Powerline Technician (434A) Certificate of Qualification; a Certificate of Apprenticeship is an asset.

WES/ICAS may be required for non-Canadian credentials, and a Journeyperson Red Seal Certification or Certificate of Qualification plus Electrical licensure are required.

Qualifications

  • Powerline Technician (434A) Certificate of Qualification required; Apprenticeship certificate considered an asset.
  • Minimum five years of practical work experience in distribution at the Journeyperson level.
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
  • Ability to be an effective classroom role model; use of current teaching methods.
  • Good organizational skills and computer skills; ability to work in a team environment.

Job description

Cambrian College’s School of Skills Training is seeking part-time professors to teach in the Powerline Technician program starting in September 2026.

Required:
  • Powerline Technician (434A) Certificate of Qualification is required; a Powerline Technician Certificate of Apprenticeship is considered an asset(A copy of educational documents must be submitted with application *** education completed outside of Canada, applicants are required to submit a WES or ICAS with their application).
  • Minimum five years of practical work experience in distribution at the Journeyperson level is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and superior oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be an effective role model in the classroom.
  • Ability to use creative teaching approaches and current and emerging teaching and learning strategies to enhance student progress.
  • Possess good organizational skills and sound computer software skills.
  • Ability to function within a team environment.
Additional Assets/Preferred:
  • Postsecondary diploma in Powerline Technician or Advanced Diploma.
  • Previous teaching experience at the postsecondary level.
  • Experience with apprenticeship mentorship, adult or post-secondary level teaching is considered an asset.
  • Overhead or utility experience is considered an asset.
