Job summary

Cambrian College's Corporate Training department requires a casual part-time Instructor to teach within the Mine Hoist Plant Certificate Program. This position may require travel to client locations within Canada and the United States.

The program consists of six, two-day modules delivered to employees in the mining industry. The successful applicant will teach one or more of the following: Mine Hoist Plant Overview, Brakes, Electrical, Safety Controllers, Conveyances, Ropes and Attachments.

Qualifications

• Postsecondary diploma in mining or trades certification as it relates to Mine Hoist operations.
• Ten years of work experience in a mine hoist environment.
• Proven ability to provide leadership, to think critically, and to communicate effectively in a professional manner.
• Ability to be an effective role model in the classroom.
• Ability to utilize creative teaching approaches and current and emerging teaching and learning strategies to enhance student progress.
• Possess good organizational skills and sound computer software skills.
• Ability to function within a team environment.

• Postsecondary diploma in mining or trades certification as it relates to Mine Hoist operations. (A copy of educational documents must be submitted with application *** education completed outside of Canada, applicants are required to submit a WES or ICAS with their application)
• Ten years of work experience in a mine hoist environment.
• Proven ability to provide leadership, to think critically, and to communicate effectively in a professional manner.
• Ability to be an effective role model in the classroom.
• Ability to utilize creative teaching approaches and current and emerging teaching and learning strategies to enhance student progress.
• Possess good organizational skills and sound computer software skills.

Additional Assets/Preferred:

• Previous teaching experience at the postsecondary level
