Job summary

Postmedia Parcel Services in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, is seeking a reliable Package Handler for a part-time shift. You will prepare sorting areas, label parcels, scan and route items, and assist with loading/unloading trucks while following health and safety rules.

The position supports a growing distribution network and offers health, dental, and pension benefits. Candidates should have a High School Diploma, reliable transportation, basic English, and the ability to work up to 12-hour shifts

Responsibilities

• Prepare stations for inbound parcels: set up racks, bags, and cages for sorting.
• Ensure labels and hub/sort codes are correct.
• Scan, sort, and place parcels within stations in labeled bags/cages.
• Verify sort codes to match bags/cages to avoid missorts.
• Assist with loading/unloading trucks and keeping the facility clean.
• Update Leads on supplies, damages, delays or issues.
• Adhere to Health and Safety guidelines at all times.

The Opportunity:

Postmedia Parcel Services is looking for flexible, hardworking individuals to join our growing team!

What you'll do:

• Prepare stations for inbound parcels: Set up of racks, bags, and cages, for sorting.
• Ensuring everything is properly labeled with correct Hub/Sort codes
• Scan, sort, and place parcels within stations in the appropriate labeled bags/cages
• Verify sort codes to match with proper bags/cages to eliminate "missorts"
• Ensure proper use of provided equipment
• Responsible for bringing missorts/package issues to Admins
• Bag/Cage all sorted freight and stage the freight for carriers
• Assist with loading and unloading trucks as required
• Clean facility as required
• Update respective Leads of any supplies needed, damages and any delays or issues encountered
• Ensure all Health and Safety Guidelines are adhered to at all times
• Ensure dock safety for yourself and fellow coworkers
• Any other task or assignments deemed necessary by the organization

Requirements:

• High School Diploma
• Reliable transportation
• Basic English language skills
• Ability to work up to 12 hr shifts
• Available through the week and weekends
• Warehouse experience considered an asset
• Good interpersonal, communication and organization skills
• Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50lbs repetitively

Pay:

Base Rate: $16.75/hr
