Job summary

Keolis Commuter Services is seeking a Part-Time Motorcoach Dispatcher for the Edmonton area. The role focuses on coordinating operators and vehicles, monitoring routes, and managing real-time operational issues during the evening shift.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year in transportation, logistics, dispatch, customer service, or related operational environment.
  • Minimum 1 year of customer service experience in transportation, travel, hospitality, call center or fast-paced service environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills for real-time situations.
  • Experience handling high volumes of phone, email, and radio communications.
  • Ability to stay calm, professional, and solution-focused during disruptions.

Operations Start Here: Red Arrow and Ebus are looking for a full-time Motorcoach Dispatcher to support our day-to-day passenger transportation operations. As a Dispatcher, you’ll play a key role in keeping our scheduled service running safely, reliably, and on time. You’ll coordinate motorcoach operators and vehicles, monitor active routes and fleet availability, respond to operational issues as they arise, and communicate with drivers, supervisors, maintenance teams, Ticket Office staff, and other departments throughout the day. This is a fast-paced operations role suited to someone who can stay organized, make sound decisions, and communicate clearly while managing multiple priorities at once.

Schedule

Start your day at a comfortable pace while enjoying a consistent evening schedule. This part-time position follows an evening shift schedule from 1:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Hours will vary based on operational requirements and are expected to average approximately 1-2 shifts per week. Additional shifts may become available as business needs evolve.

Rotation Schedule:

  • 3 days on / 2 days off
  • 2 days on / 3 days off
  • 2 days on / 2 days off

Applicants must be available to work the full rotation, including weekends and statutory holidays as scheduled. During the initial training period, employees will follow the same rotation with adjusted training hours of 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

What You’ll Do

  • Coordinate daily Motorcoach Operator and vehicle assignments.
  • Dispatch Operators and equipment to support scheduled passenger service and operational requirements.
  • Monitor active routes, vehicle status, Operator availability, and service performance throughout the shift.
  • Respond to delays, breakdowns, staffing shortages, service disruptions, and other operational challenges in real time.
  • Communicate and coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Ticket Offices, and other departments to support safe and reliable service delivery.
  • Relay operational updates, assignments, and instructions using dispatch, communication, and fleet management systems.
  • Maintain clear and timely communication with Operators regarding route changes, service updates, operational requirements, and schedule adjustments.
  • Answer incoming calls and provide accurate operational information to internal departments, Ticket Offices, and passengers when required.
  • Troubleshoot passenger concerns and operational issues while identifying practical and timely solutions.
  • Assist the Charter department with coordinating Operators and equipment to fulfill charter requirements when needed.
  • Maintain accurate dispatch logs, operational records, and service documentation throughout the shift.

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in transportation, logistics, dispatch, customer service, or a related operational environment.
  • Minimum one (1) year of customer service experience in transportation, travel, hospitality, call centre, or another fast-paced service environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to assess situations and respond appropriately.
  • Experience managing a high volume of telephone, email, and radio communications while balancing competing priorities.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and solution-focused when responding to service disruptions and time-sensitive operational issues.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately communicate and document operational information.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal Background Check.

Preferred Experience & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in dispatch, transportation, motorcoach operations, transit, logistics, fleet operations, scheduling, or another fast-paced operations environment.
  • Experience coordinating Drivers, vehicles, routes, schedules, or field-based employees.
  • Experience using dispatch, scheduling, fleet management, GPS tracking, or other operational software.
  • Knowledge of Alberta and British Columbia highways, major communities, and transportation corridors.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment.
  • Post-secondary education or training in Transportation & Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Training in Incident Command System (ICS), emergency communications, conflict resolution, de-escalation techniques, occupational health and safety, or transportation safety.

Please note: Preference may be given to candidates with experience in dispatch, transportation, logistics, fleet operations, or other fast-paced operational environments.
