Algonquin College in Ottawa is seeking a Lab Assistant to support student learning in the Medical Device Reprocessing program, in a lab/simulated classroom under faculty supervision. The role is part-time, eight months, with a maximum of eight hours per week.

A one-year certificate in Medical Device Reprocessing and solid communication skills are required; proficiency with Word, Excel and Outlook is expected.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Support student learning in a lab/simulated classroom in the Medical Device Reprocessing program.
  • Under supervision of faculty, assist with lab setup and supervision.
  • Assist instructors and students to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.

Job Description

The Lab Assistant reports to the Chair, Wellness Research & Innovation. Under the supervision of the faculty, the incumbent supports student learning in a lab/simulated classroom in the Medical Device Reprocessing program.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum one ( 1) year certificate or equivalent in Medical Device Reprocessing
  • Minimum three (3) years general experience with a t least o ne ( 1) year experience as a Medical Device Reprocessing Technician
  • Clear understanding of student conduct expectations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Experience with computer software - Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Outlook

This is a eight (8) month position with an annual lay off period of up to four (4) months. The position completes a 8-hour work week.
