Algonquin College is seeking a Part-Time Lab Assistant to support student learning in the Medical Device Reprocessing lab. Under faculty supervision, you will assist with lab activities and ensure a productive learning environment in the Wellness program.

The role requires a certificate in Medical Device Reprocessing, several years' related experience, and strong communication skills. This is a part-time eight-month position with weekly hours totaling 8, located on-site in Ottawa.

Qualifications

  • Minimum one year certificate or equivalent in Medical Device Reprocessing.
  • Minimum three years general experience with at least one year as a Medical Device Reprocessing Technician.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; conflict resolution abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Support student learning in a lab/simulated classroom for the Medical Device Reprocessing program.
  • Assist the Chair, Wellness Research & Innovation and faculty in lab activities.
  • Maintain a professional environment and uphold student conduct expectations.

Job Description

The Lab Assistant reports to the Chair, Wellness Research & Innovation. Under the supervision of the faculty, the incumbent supports student learning in a lab/simulated classroom in the Medical Device Reprocessing program.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum one (1) year certificate or equivalent in Medical Device Reprocessing
  • Minimum three (3) years general experience with at least one (1) year experience as a Medical Device Reprocessing Technician
  • Clear understanding of student conduct expectations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Experience with computer software - Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Outlook

This is a eight (8) month position with an annual lay off period of up to four (4) months. The position completes a 8-hour work week. This position is subject to the terms of the Part-time Support Staff Collective Agreement: 2021-24-PT-Support-Staff-CA_FINAL_EN-1.pdf (algonquincollege.com).
