Job summary

Pembina Trails School Division is seeking a Certified Library Technician to manage daily library operations and support teaching staff and students at Fort Richmond Collegiate. The role emphasizes bibliographic instruction, readers’ advisory, cataloging, and collaboration with the Teacher-Librarian.

The technician will handle circulation, acquisitions, inventory, and maintenance of the library collection and resources, ensuring effective access for staff and students.

Qualifications

• Provides bibliographic instruction to students and staff to locate reference sources and materials.
• Assists students in locating reference materials and using online sources.
• Instructs staff and students in using instructional equipment and software with the Teacher-Librarian.
• Collaborates with Teacher-Librarian in selecting resources to purchase and for displays.

Responsibilities

• Operates and maintains the circulation system and files.
• Catalogues resources using current library standards and adapts with Dewey/Sears headings.
• Processes new resources for shelving and circulation and conducts inventory per schedule.
• Collaborates with Teacher-Librarian for instruction, promotion, and displays of new materials.
• Monitors student activities in the library and coordinates volunteers.
