Job summary

School District No. 91 Nechako Lakes in Fort St. James seeks a Relief Learning Support Worker to assist with students under teacher direction.

The role is 5.5 hours per day, 3 days per week (Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays), starting as soon as possible until the regular employee returns. The successful candidate will support students individually or in small groups, work with district staff, and advocate for learners within the school-based team, while adhering to safety procedures and the WHMIS

Qualifications

• 6 months of experience working with children/youth who have intellectual/behavioral or multiple disabilities.
• WHMIS 2015 Certificate and familiarity with WorkSafeBC safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Works with school and district staff to foster and develop the individual student's potential under the direction of the teacher and other related professionals.
• Provides assistance to teachers and other professionals in the delivery of regular or alternate programs with a group or individual students.
• Functions as an advocate for the students and as a member of the school-based team where required.
