Job summary

Oxford Learning Mississauga Central is seeking a part-time High School Math & Science Tutor to support Grades 9–12 students, focusing on the Ontario curriculum. Lessons are pre-planned and in-person at the Mississauga centre, with training provided and a strong emphasis on reliability and student growth.

Ideal candidates have a background in math and sciences, strong English communication, and the ability to manage up to three students per session.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or similar certification in a relevant field.
  • Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered.
  • Teaching certification an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of Grades 9–12 math and science curriculum including Advanced Functions, algebra, trig, Calculus, vectors, physics, chemistry, biology.

Responsibilities

  • Teach up to 3 students at a time at different levels.
  • Teach online and in-person.
  • Follow Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
  • Fill in post-lesson notes.
  • Complete daily student communication updates.
  • Maintain a friendly and professional manner.

Part Time High School Math & Science Tutor

Must Have Canadian Curriculum Experience.

Oxford Learning Mississauga Central is currently seeking part-time teacher-tutors for a role in our learning centre. This position is perfect for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys numbers and equations, and is passionate about helping others build their skills in these areas.

Teacher-Tutors at Oxford Learning do not have to lesson plan before class, as all lessons are pre-planned. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.

Candidates must possess a strong background in both math and all sciences (Biology, Chemistry & Physics), and must be comfortable teaching students in Grades 9 – 12 at all levels. You must also be familiar with the Ontario curriculum.

Position Requirements

Candidates MUST be available Monday - Thursday 4:00pm - 8:00pm, as well as Saturdays (10:00am - 2:00pm). A commitment for the whole school year is preferred. Continuing through the summer is even better. Your students will love working with you, and being reliable is a must.

This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. Relocation packages are not available. This is not an online position.

Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Education

  • Strong English written and oral communication skills
  • Strong math skills and ability to guide students' understanding
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
Responsibilities (Position Details)

You will work directly with students as an Interactive Coach with the following responsibilities:

  • Teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels
  • Teaching online and in-person
  • Following the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
  • Filling in post-lesson notes
  • Completing daily student communication updates
  • Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times
