Job summary

Oxford Learning Mississauga Central is seeking a part-time Tutor-Teacher to support high school students in Math and Science. You will work in-person at the Mississauga Centre, delivering pre-planned lessons and guiding Grades 9–12 through Advanced Functions, Calculus, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology while aligning with the Ontario curriculum.

You should enjoy numbers, experiments, and helping students build confidence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Teaching certification is an asset.
  • Some experience tutoring Grades 9-12 or similar levels.

Responsibilities

  • Teach up to 3 students at a time across different levels.
  • Deliver in-person and online lessons following Oxford Learning methodologies.
  • Fill in post-lesson notes after each session.
  • Provide daily student communication updates to families.
  • Maintain a friendly, professional demeanor at all times.

Oxford Learning Mississauga Central is currently seeking part-time teacher-tutors for a role in our learning centre. This position is perfect for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys numbers and equations, and is passionate about helping others build their skills in these areas.

Teacher-Tutors at Oxford Learning do not have to lesson plan before class, as all lessons are pre-planned. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.

Candidates must possess a strong background in both math and all sciences (Biology, Chemistry & Physics), and must be comfortable teaching students in Grades 9 – 12 at all levels. You must also be familiar with the Ontario curriculum.

Position Requirements

Candidates MUST be available Monday - Thursday 4:00pm - 8:00pm, as well as Saturdays (10:00am - 2:00pm). A commitment for the whole school year is preferred. Continuing through the summer is even better. Your students will love working with you, and being reliable is a must.

This role is in-person

You must be able to commute to this location. Relocation packages are not available. This is not an online position.

Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
  • Teaching certification an asset
  • Good knowledge of the current Grades 9-12 math and science curriculum, particularly senior math and including, but not limited to, Advanced Functions, algebra, trigonometry and Calculus, and vectors, physics, chemistry, and biology.
Experience
  • Some experience teaching/tutoring math and science at a Grade 9 to 12 (or equivalent) level
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills
  • Strong math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
Responsibilities (Position Details)

You will work directly with students as an Interactive Coach with the following responsibilities:

  • Teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels
  • Teaching online and in-personFollowing the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
  • Filling in post-lesson notes
  • Completing daily student communication updates
  • Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times
