Job summary

Oxford Learning North York Willowdale is seeking a part-time High School Math/Science Teacher-Tutor to support Grades 9–12 students in math and science.

The role uses pre-planned lessons and combines online and in-person sessions. Availability 3:00 pm–8:00 pm with a minimum of two evenings per week; expect to work with up to three students at a time.

Relocation is not offered; vulnerability screening is required. Training is provided to learn our proprietary methods.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Tutoring experience at Grades 9–12 in math and science is preferred.
  • Strong English communication skills required.
  • Ability to guide multiple students concurrently.

Responsibilities

  • Teach up to 3 students at varying levels, in-person and online.
  • Follow Oxford Learning methodologies and document daily notes.
  • Submit post-lesson notes and maintain student updates.
  • Maintain a friendly, professional manner at all times.

High School Math/Science Teacher/Tutor Wanted

Motivated by mathematics? Sharp with science? Excited by equations in both fields? Eager to help students succeed in math and science?

Our hours count! Gain valuable teaching experience! Oxford Learning North York Willowdale is currently seeking part‑time teacher‑tutors for a role in our learning centre. This position is perfect for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys numbers and equations, and is passionate about helping others build their skills in these areas.

Teacher‑Tutors at Oxford Learning do not have to lesson plan before class, as all lessons are pre‑planned. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.

Position Requirements
  • Availability during after‑school and evening hours (3:00 pm – 8:00 pm)
  • Available for a minimum of 2 evenings per week
  • Commitment through to the end of the 2026‑2027 school year (June 30th), with the possibility of continuing through the summer
  • In‑person instruction
  • Ability to commute to the designated location – relocation packages are not available
  • Mandatory vulnerable sector screening

We encourage you to apply if you have the majority of the following requirements:

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • Fourth‑year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
  • Teaching certification an asset
  • Good knowledge of the current Grades 9‑12 math and science curriculum, particularly senior math and including, but not limited to, Advanced Functions, Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, vectors, physics, chemistry, and biology
Experience
  • Some experience teaching/tutoring math and science at a Grade 9 to 12 (or equivalent) level
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills
  • Strong math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
Responsibilities (Position Details)

You will work directly with students as an Interactive Coach with the following responsibilities:

  • Teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels
  • Teaching online and in‑person
  • Following the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
  • Filling in post‑lesson notes
  • Completing daily student communication updates
  • Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times
