Job summary

Oxford Learning Toronto Forest Hill is seeking part-time High School Math/Science Teacher-Tutors to guide students after school and on Saturdays. Courses are pre-planned; training provided in our proprietary methods.

You’ll teach small groups (up to three) both online and in-person at our Forest Hill center in Toronto. The role requires commitment through the school year, with evening hours from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and some Saturdays (10:00am–3:00pm).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field.
• Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered.
• Teaching certification an asset.
• Strong knowledge of Grades 9-12 math and science curriculum, including algebra, trig, calculus, vectors, physics, chemistry, biology.

Responsibilities

• Teach up to 3 students at a time at different levels.
• Teach online and in-person.
• Follow Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
• Fill in post-lesson notes.
• Complete daily student communication updates.
• Maintain a friendly and professional manner.

High School Math/Science Teacher/Tutor Wanted

Motivated by mathematics? Sharp with science? Excited by equations in both fields? Eager to help students succeed in math and science?

Our hours count! Gain valuable teaching experience! Oxford Learning Toronto Forest Hillis currently seeking part-time teacher-tutors for a role in our learning centre. This position is perfect for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys numbers and equations, and is passionate about helping others build their skills in these areas.

Teacher-Tutors at Oxford Learning do not have to lesson plan before class, as all lessons are pre-planned. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.

Position Requirements

All Teacher-Tutors at Oxford Learning work during after-school and evening hours (4:00pm - 8:00pm) as well as some Saturdays (10:00am - 3:00pm). A commitment until the end of the school year is preferred. Continuing through the summer is even better. Your students will love working with you, and being reliable is a must.

This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position. Relocation packages are not available.

Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

We encourage you to apply if you have the majority of the following requirements:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
• Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
• Teaching certification an asset
• Good knowledge of the current Grades 9-12 math and science curriculum, particularly senior math and including, but not limited to, Advanced Functions, algebra, trigonometry and Calculus, as well as vectors, physics, chemistry, and biology.

Experience:

• Some experience teaching/tutoring math and science at a Grade 9 to 12 (or equivalent) level
• Strong English written and oral communication skills
• Strong math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
• Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time

• Teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels
• Teaching online and in-person
• Following the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
• Filling in post-lesson notes
• Completing daily student communication updates
• Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times
