YWCA Toronto in Scarborough, ON, is seeking a Part-time Front Desk Liaison to support the Here to Help program. This 4-hour-per-week position provides welcoming reception for participants, helps coordinate safety and logistics, and supports staff in program delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Greets Here to Help participants and directs them accordingly
  • Applies knowledge of the issue of trauma and the dynamics of woman abuse to respond appropriately to participant requests for support
  • Monitors activity in the entrance area and ensures children are supervised and in the care of either their mother or group leader, when necessary
  • Escorts children to their group rooms if they arrive late for the program and organizes taxis and taxi chits (when necessary)
  • Ensures the health and safety guidelines are followed in accordance with the policies and procedures of YWCA Toronto; responding to on-site emergencies by also using Here to Help safety protocols
  • Follows safety protocols at all times while keeping control of the keys to the elevator and group room spaces;
  • Keeps a walkie-talkie on their person at all times, checking before shift to ensure it is in working order
  • Connects with Here to Help coordinator when there is an issue of safety or a participant is requiring support
  • Completes monthly timesheets and submits to Manager as required and carries out other administrative tasks as required
  • Works within a team environment, facilitates effective communication and ensures that pertinent information is shared with the Here to Help coordinator and appropriate staff
  • May have to participate in staff meetings if needed

The Part Time Front Desk Liaison is responsible for providing welcoming and supportive reception service for participants who are arriving for the Here to Help Program. ABOUT HERE TO HELP YWCA Toronto Help to Help is a free 12-week program in south Scarborough for Children 4-16 years of age and their mothers/gender diverse parents who have been exposed to abuse. We support participants through the healing process. This program offers a comfortable, compassionate, safe place for children to learn they are not alone This program offers to mothers/caregivers’ information on how children may be impacted by their exposure to abuse and provides support on how to support their children’s emotional healing

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATION
  • General knowledge of an academic or technical discipline normally acquired through enrollment in or completion of a community college diploma (e.g. Child and Youth Worker Diploma) (Case for Equivalency will be considered)
  • 1-2 years’ experience working with children and their families
  • Training related to conflict resolution an asset
  • Ability to interact with a diverse community of children and their families
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience working within a multicultural environment
