Job summary

Oxford Learning Don Mills is seeking a part-time French teacher/tutor to support students up to Grade 12 in after-school hours. The role is in‑person at Don Mills, with hours typically 3:00pm–8:00pm on weekdays and some Saturdays.

Candidates should be fluent in French and English, comfortable teaching multiple students, and able to commute to North York area; vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Qualifications

• Strong background in spoken and written French and English; comfortable teaching up to Grade 9, ideally Grade 12.
• Able to teach up to three students simultaneously after school hours.
• In-person teaching; reliable with commute to Don Mills; vulnerable sector screening mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Teach up to 3 students at a time across different levels.
• Teach both online and in-person sessions; follow Oxford Learning methodologies.
• Fill in post-lesson notes and maintain daily student communications.
• Maintain a friendly, professional manner at all times.
• Contribute to a positive learning environment and student engagement.

Part‑Time French Teacher/Tutor

Employment Type: Casual Part Time

Pay: $18.50 to $20.00 per hour

Salary: $18.50 - $20 / hour

Position Requirements

All Tutors at Oxford Learning work during after‑school and evening hours (3:00pm - 8:00pm) as well as some Saturdays (9:00am - 1:00pm). A commitment until the end of the school year is preferred. Continuing through the summer is even better. Your students will love working with you, and being reliable is a must. Candidates must possess a strong background in spoken and written French and English and be comfortable teaching up to a Grade 9 level, but up to Grade 12 is preferred. The candidate is required to instruct class sessions in French.

This role is in‑person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position. Relocation packages are not available. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
• Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
• Teaching certification an asset
• Good knowledge of the current Grades 9-12 French core curriculum

Experience

• Some experience teaching/tutoring French at a Grade 9 to 12 (or equivalent) level
• Strong English written and oral communication skills
• Strong French skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
• Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
