Job description

French Teacher/Tutor Wanted

We are looking for an enthusiastic French speaker to join Oxford Learning Oakville South as a part‑time French teacher, tutor, or coach. The role focuses on teaching students how to learn French and improving their academic and study skills in a small group setting.

Position Summary

• Employment type: Part time
• Pay: $18‑$20 per hour
• Work hours: 3:00 pm–8:00 pm weekdays, some Saturdays 9:00 am–1:00 pm, with a commitment to the end of the term in June and potentially summer
• Location: In‑person at Oxford Learning Oakville South, Oakville, ON (must be able to commute; no relocation package, no online position)

Position Requirements

Candidates should possess a strong background in spoken and written French and English, be comfortable teaching up to Grade 9 (preferred up to Grade 12), and must instruct sessions in French. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

• Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
• Fourth‑year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
• Teaching certification an asset
• Good knowledge of the current Grades 9‑12 French core curriculum
• Some experience teaching/tutoring French at a Grade 9‑12 (or equivalent) level
• Strong English written and oral communication skills
• Strong French skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
• Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time

Responsibilities

• Teach up to 3 students at a time at different levels
• Deliver lessons online and in‑person using Oxford Learning methodologies
• Fill in post‑lesson notes and complete daily student communication updates
• Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times
• Support students’ self‑confidence and self‑esteem through coaching
