Job summary

The University of Waterloo invites applications for part-time Food Service staff in Area B Operations. Work 33 weeks per year (35 hours/week) from September to April with a starting salary range of $56,494.16 to $70,617.70 per year.

Responsibilities include hiring and training staff, scheduling, inventory and cash controls, maintaining safety standards, and assisting with special projects. Employment is permanent, contingent on funding.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Food and Beverage management or equivalent work related experience.
• Smart serve certification required.
• Several years’ recent experience in hotel, quick service or institutional food service environment.
• Experience supervising in a unionized environment and working with student employees.
• Inventory and cash controls, food and labour cost control and providing exceptional customer service.
• Proven ability to work with minimum supervision in a fast paced, customer oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the management of UW Food Service units in line with department objectives and policies.
• Assist with hiring, training, motivating and performance management of staff.
• Assist with scheduling part-time and student employees; promote student employment on campus.
• Oversee day-to-day operations and ensure health, safety, sanitation, maintenance standards are met.
• Manage financials: payroll records, vouchers, invoices, vacation schedules, sick leave.
