Job summary

The Municipality of North Grenville is seeking a Facilities Attendant to assist in the maintenance of Municipal facilities, including janitorial duties. You will help ensure safe, clean, and well‑functioning spaces for residents and staff.

You must be available for evening, night and weekend hours, hold a valid Class G driver’s licence, and demonstrate strong customer service. WHMIS, First Aid and CPR Level C are required or attainable.

Qualifications

  • Secondary School student or graduate.
  • Valid Class G driver’s license.
  • WHMIS, Standard First Aid and CPR Level C.
  • Excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and follow directions.
  • Evening, night and weekend hours required.
  • Experience with facility maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance of Municipal facilities including janitorial duties.
  • Ensures proper maintenance of facilities and equipment.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding recreation and culture programs and other services offered by the Municipality of North Grenville.
  • Works in compliance with Workplace Health and Safety legislation.
  • Interacts with various user groups to ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintains positive image of the Municipality and services.

North Grenville is a growing municipality located in eastern Ontario housing a unique blend of small-town and rural culture. Comprised of an urban center (Kemptville) and surrounded by several charming rural hamlets, North Grenville is situated between Canada’s National Capital - Ottawa and the St. Lawrence River, only a 30-minute drive along the Veterans Memorial Highway (416), to either destination.

Under the direction of the Facilities Lead Hand, the Facilities Attendant will assist in the maintenance of Municipal facilities.

Position Description
  • Responsible for maintenance of Municipal facilities including janitorial duties
  • Ensures proper maintenance of all facilities and equipment
  • Responds to inquiries regarding recreation and culture programs and other services offered by the Municipality of North Grenville
  • Works in compliance with all Workplace Health and Safety legislation in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Municipality of North Grenville Human Resources Policies and Procedures
  • Interacts with various user groups of the facilities to ensure smooth operations
  • Ensures excellent customer service to all facility users, maintains a positive image of the Municipality and ensure that the municipal facilities and services are profiled in a positive manner
Qualifications:
  • Secondary School student (or graduate)
  • Demonstrated Excellent customer service skills
  • Valid and in good standing Class “G” Drivers licence
  • WHMIS, Standard First Aid and CPR Level C Certification
  • Understanding of appropriate safety precautions
  • Strong ability in taking direction and following through with the given task
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated ability to operate mechanical equipment
  • Knowledge of, or experience with facility maintenance
  • Evening, night and weekend hours are required.
  • Attend meetings and training as required
  • Exposure to elements such as inclement weather (extreme heat and/or cold), chemicals, dust, waste site environment, garbage and noise
Compensation:

The salary for this position starts at $17.60 per hour.
