Job summary

Community Support Connections seeks a part-time Driver in Ontario, Breslau, to provide safe transportation for clients to medical appointments, day programs, shopping trips, and other errands with excellent customer service.

You will assist clients in and out of vehicles, handle groceries as needed, and work a flexible schedule including Fridays within a two-shift weekly pattern; the role emphasizes reliability and compassionate support in a community setting.

Qualifications

  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Check on file.
  • Acceptable Driver’s Abstract.
  • Current Emergency First Aid with CPR Level A certificate and willingness to stay current.

Responsibilities

  • Provides safe transportation of clients to medical appointments, day programs, and other errands following assigned routes provided by the Scheduler.
  • Assist clients in and out of the vehicle and escort them safely inside the building when required.
  • Assist clients with carrying items such as groceries and walker, as needed.
  • Maintain positive and friendly communication with clients throughout transport.
  • Complete other related department needs/tasks as required by supervisor or delegated authority.

PART TIME DRIVER
Current Vacancy
Contract: September 9, 2026, to September 10, 2027
Schedule: Two shifts per week (minimum 5 hours per shift), one must be FRIDAYS, with opportunities to pick up additional shifts
$17.81 per hour

The Role:

You’ll provide safe, reliable transportation to medical appointments, day programs, shopping trips, and other essential errands while delivering exceptional customer service and compassionate support.

What You’ll Do
  • Providesafe transportation of clients to medical appointments, day programs, and other errands following assigned routes provided by the Scheduler
  • Assistclients in and out of the vehicle and escortthem safely inside the building when required
  • Assist clients with carrying items such as groceries and walker, as needed
  • Maintainpositive and friendly communication with clients throughout transport
  • Pickup Meals on Wheels meals from designated locations and deliverthem to various depots; collectempty meal bags and related delivery materials and return them to the office for cleaning and preparation for reuse
  • Instructand liaisewith volunteers at meal depots about which bags to take and ensureall routes are correctly distributed
  • Deliverflyers, mail and other supplies between locations, as required
  • Completeother related department needs/tasksas requiredby supervisor or delegated authority
ShoppingServices
  • Completegrocerylist and escorted shopsat a variety of grocery stores throughout Waterloo Region that are assigned to their vehicle bytheScheduler
  • Either picks up client’s grocery list before shop, or callsclient to obtain list of items requested, confirming client’s requests and inquiring for details
  • Speakwith clients andrespondto questionsregardingsubstitutions anditemsnot available.
  • Maintainpositive and friendly communication with clients throughouttheshop
  • Hand pickitems on clients’lists, ensureitems are properly placed into carts, and check items beforeproceedingto the cash register to ensure that no items are missed
  • Runitems through the checkout counter and pay for them withoneof theclient’s cash, agency storeaccountsand/or courtesy charge card
  • Obtaintwo copies of the grocery receipt, one for the client and the other for finance
  • Carrygrocery items up to 50lbs
  • Assistclients with carrying itemsinto the home as directed
  • Providefollow-up with clientsregardingproblems such as incorrect deliveries, handleexchangesand returns
  • Completethe shopping sheet daily and tracktime spent shopping using theAlayaCareand/or Blaise app
  • Maintaincleanliness of the agency vehicle
  • Completeother related department needs/tasksas requiredby supervisor or delegated authority
Safe Vehicle Use
  • Conductpre-trip vehicle inspections at the beginning of each shift, including completion of required inspection checklists, verification of fluid levels, lights, tires, mileage, and overall vehicle condition, and identification and reporting of safety concerns or defects.
  • Ensureassigned vehicles are clean, fueled, properly equipped, and ready for client transportation and delivery services, maintaining a professional interior and exterior appearance.
  • Maintain accurate operational records, including vehicle mileage, fuel purchases and usage, pick-ups, deliveries, incidents, working hours, and vehicle service or repair status, in accordance with organizational procedures.
  • Reportvehicle defects, maintenance requirements, collisions, damage, safety concerns, and operational issues promptly to designated staff in accordance with organizational procedures.
  • Ensurevehicles, keys, fuel cards, tablets, and other organizational property are secured when not in use.
  • Operateorganizational vehicles in accordance with applicable legislation, organizational policies, and safe driving practices.

Schedule and Requirements
  • Availability to work our operating hours of 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Available to work Fridays as one of your regular weekly shifts; your second regular workday will be negotiated
  • Comfortable and confident operating any vehicle within CSC fleet
  • Must be able to drive for the Tacofest event which occurs in the evening on the Friday before Father’s Day
