Job summary

County of Elgin’s Terrace Lodge is seeking a Part-time Dietary Aide to support basic food preparation, assist the Cook, and handle food according to safety standards. You will help with serving, setting and clearing tables, and receiving deliveries to the dietary department.

Attention to detail and maintaining a sanitary workspace are essential. The role offers competitive pay ($27.11–$27.56/hr) under the collective agreement, plus benefits and pension options and flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• Successful completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker program meeting the requirements of the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021.
• Current Food Handling Certificate.
• A passion for serving others and providing quality care.
• Cook diploma (an asset)
• Excellent communication skills

Responsibilities

Position Title: Dietary Aide

Type: Part-time, Permanent

Compensation: $27.11 - $27.56/hour as per collective agreement

About the Role:

As a Dietary Aide, you will be responsible for basic food preparation, assisting the Cook where needed, and handling food in accordance with safety and sanitary regulations. You will also be responsible for service of food, setting and clearing tables, and receiving goods delivered to the dietary department. Attention to detail is key, as you will keep accurate records while maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment (knowing the proper procedures for operating and cleaning all equipment, utensils, work services, etc. used in food service areas).
