Job summary

Phoenix Society is seeking a part-time Cook at Bentley Place who will prepare meals, follow established recipes and maintain quality and safety standards. You will work Saturdays and Sundays 10:00 am to 06:00 pm, assist other kitchen staff, and deliver meals to clients as needed.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 1–3 years cooking experience, and required certifications including FoodSafe Level 1, CPR/First Aid, and vulnerable sector screening.

Qualifications

• Highschool diploma or equivalent.
• RedSeal certification is required.
• 1 to 3 years of experience in preparing, cooking and delivering meals.
• Satisfactory completion of a criminal records check with vulnerable sector screening is required.
• Satisfactory completion of Tuberculosis Screening form is required.
• Satisfactory completion of Employee Immunization Record form is required.
• Satisfactory completion of Nonviolent crisis intervention (NVCI)
• First aid certification with CPR is required.
• FoodSafe Level 1 is required.

Responsibilities

• Setup, clean and organize work stations with all necessary supplies.
• Prepare ingredients for the day; wash, chop and season meat, vegetables, etc.
• Prepare and cook menu items according to nutritional standards with other kitchen staff.
• Handle multiple food orders at one time.
• Deliver menu items to clients as required.
• Store and dispose of any food properly.
• Ensures sufficient stock and inventory of food, supplies and equipment.
• Sanitize and clean work stations and kitchen supplies.
• Comply with health and safety and sanitation standards.
• Ensure that food is distributed in high quality and in a timely fashion.
• Perform other duties as required
