PART-TIME “ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR” - AQUATICS

Reporting to: Supervisor of Aquatics and Recreation Programs

Department: Aquatics

Classification: Part Time; Unionized

Salary Range: $17.19 - $17.72 as per Schedule "A"

Starting Date: As soon as possible

Responsibilities

1. Assist in instructing Lifesaving Society Swim programs (Preschool, Parent and Tot, Youth, and Adult).
2. Support the instructor by performing duties such as:
   1. Helping deliver swim lessons,
   2. Assisting in evaluating candidates,
   3. Addressing questions and concerns from parents.
3. Ensure qualifications remain current (within two years of certification date).
4. Perform other duties as assigned.
5. Assist with deck and pool setup before instruction and cleanup afterward.

Qualifications

1. Lifesaving Assistant Water Safety Instructor Certificate,
2. Bronze Cross Certificate or National Lifeguard,
3. Standard First Aid and CPR-C,
4. Excellent physical condition,
5. Ability to interact pleasantly with the public.

Hours of work do not exceed forty-eight (48) hours in a two-week period, in accordance with the C.U.P.E., Local 1146 - Inside/Part-time Unit collective agreement.
