Job summary

Township of Oro-Medonte seeks a part-time Contract Parks & Facilities Operator to support the Operations and Community Services Department. You will maintain the arena, parks and facilities, ensure safety, and provide strong customer service.

Eligibility includes a high school diploma and hands-on ice making/refrigeration skills with related certifications. Responsibilities include operating maintenance equipment, performing inspections, and upholding WHMIS and health & safety standards.

  • Carry out custodial duties to keep facilities and grounds clean and safe; perform other duties as assigned.

About the Role

The Township of Oro-Medonte is currently seeking applicants for the part-time position of Contract –Parks &Facilities Operator for the Operations and Community Services Department. Reporting to the Supervisor, Parks & Facilities, the Contract Parks & Facilities Operator shall be responsible for providing day-to-day maintenance and operation of the community arena, parks and recreational facilities, while ensuring safety and maintaining a high level of customer service.

Highlights of Key Responsibilities include:

  • Performs maintenance, inspection and record keeping of all recreational facilities and community halls, including the arena ammonia plant & ice surface conditions, and other building maintenance functions;
  • Responsible for operating (and maintaining in a clean and tidy condition) light and medium duty trucks, ice resurfacing/maintenance equipment, and some heavy equipment for parks operations;
  • Responsible for the custodial duties to maintain facilities and park grounds in a clean and safe condition;
  • Other duties as assigned.
What You Bring

The applicant must possess a high school diploma and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience as well as technical skills in ice making and resurfacing, refrigeration plant operation, and general facility maintenance. Certification in First Aid/CPR, O.R.F.A. Basic Refrigeration, and Ice Maintenance and Equipment Operations certificates are required. The successful applicant shall be knowledgeable of the Ontario Health and Safety Act, WHMIS and be available to work in a variety of environmental conditions. The position of Facility Operator is a physically strenuous position, which includes but is not limited to shoveling, raking, sweeping, bending, lifting, carrying and the use of equipment and supplies. A valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License and a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract and Criminal Record Check are also required for this role.

What WeOffer

This contractposition offers a salary commensurate with experience and education (2026 wage schedule range of $28.08-33.74 per hour). The working hours for this casual position will be a maximum of 24 flexible hours per week including evenings, weekends, and holidays, from approximately September to April.
