Job description

Mary Centre is seeking a faith-driven, compassionate, and community-oriented Parish Outreach Worker to join our team. This is a meaningful opportunity for someone passionate about building inclusive faith communities and supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and their families through advocacy, education, and connection.

Position Summary

The Parish Outreach Worker serves as a key liaison between Mary Centre and Catholic parishes across the Greater Toronto Area. This role is focused on building strong relationships within the Catholic community, supporting families in navigating the developmental services system, and fostering greater awareness, inclusion, and dignity for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Build relationships with Catholic parishes and key stakeholders including the Archdiocese of Toronto and Catholic Charities.
• Provide one-on-one support to families navigating services through Developmental Services Ontario (DSO) and other community supports.
• Offer guidance grounded in Catholic values and teachings.
• Facilitate referrals to relevant service agencies and maintain an up-to-date resource directory.
• Promote awareness and inclusion through community events and presentations.
• Maintain accurate records and submit regular reports to the Director.
• Participate in agency meetings, planning initiatives, and outreach efforts across the GTA.

Qualifications

• A university degree in Social Work, Psychology, Theology, Community Development, Disability Studies, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Experience in community outreach, social services, pastoral ministry, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Strong knowledge of Ontario’s DSO system and community resources.
• As this position will be working closely with the Catholic Church and representing its values in community outreach and engagement, the successful candidate must be a practicing Catholic in good standing. This is necessary to ensure that the work carried out reflects the mission, teachings, and traditions of the Church.
• Exceptional interpersonal, relationship management and communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Strong time management, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle required.
