Job summary

Aecon Group Inc. is seeking a Painter for our Cambridge facility to support industrial coating projects. You will join a team that specializes in fabrication shop painting, preparing surfaces and applying diverse coatings across challenging infrastructure projects.

Successful applicants will read drawings, follow coating data sheets, and operate spray equipment. The role requires physical work, potential shifts, and adherence to safety standards. Training will be provided as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in industrial painting in fabrication shop environments.
• Ability to read and interpret coating technical data sheets.
• Comfort working with various coatings (zincs, epoxies, polyurethanes).

Responsibilities

• Spray using conventional, airless, and plural equipment.
• Prepare materials for spray application (mask, sand, clean).
• Read and understand drawings and dimensions.
• Follow coating technical data sheet specifications.
• Use wet film and dry film gauges.
• Operate hand and power tools of all types.
• Handle material using forklifts, cranes, buggies, and carts.
• Receive and identify incoming material.
• Clean and prepare shop areas.
• Assist other craft workers.
• Be willing to learn new skills with Aecon training.

Successful applicants must become members of the United Association union local 527 as a Metal Trades Worker.

What You'll Do Here:

• Be able to spray using conventional, airless, and plural equipment.
• Be able to prepare materials for spray application: i.e., mask, sand, clean.
• Be able to read and understand drawings / dimensions.
• Be able to follow coating technical data sheet specifications.
• Be able to use wet film and dry film gauges.
• Have familiarity in all types of coatings, i.e., zincs, epoxies, polyurethanes, etc.
• Operate hand and power tools of all types.
• Handle material using forklifts, overhead cranes, buggies and carts.
• Receive and identify incoming material.
• Clean and prepare shop areas.
• Assist other craft workers.
• Be willing to learn new skills as Aecon will provide training for this position.

What You Bring to the Team:

• Fall Arrest is an asset.
• WHMIS Certification is an asset.
• Overhead Crane Training is an asset.

• Ability to use stairs, ladders.
• Ability to work extended hours when required, occasionally in outdoor weather conditions.
• Flexibility to work various shifts.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs independently.

Ability to stand, bend, kneel, crouch, and work in physically demanding positions for extended periods.

Ability to perform repetitive motions using power tools and blasting equipment.

Work is primarily performed in afabrication shop environment and may include exposure to dust, noise, vibrations, and industrial equipment.

Ability to work indoors and outdoors, as required, in all seasonal and weather conditions.

Use of requiredpersonal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to respirators, protective clothing, gloves, hearing protection, and eye protection.

The expected pay range for this role is: $20/hr - $35/hr

Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role
