Job summary

Aecon Group Inc. in Cambridge, Ontario, is seeking an abrasive blaster to support projects at our Cambridge Coating Facility.

Training with heavy equipment, grinding tools, and power tools is valued; you may assist with painting or coating after surface preparation. You will remove dirt, paint, grease, and other materials; set up and operate a blast booth; load and unload the blast cabinet; apply non-skid materials as needed; and perform related duties per the collective agreement.

Qualifications

• Previous sandblasting experience or training.
• Experience working with or removing heavy metals a plus.
• High school diploma or GED certificate required or equivalent.

• Remove dirt, paint, grease, and other built-up material from surfaces.
• Set up and operate a blast booth or similar equipment.

While you do not need to be an experienced sandblaster to apply, we do expect applicants to have some training with the heavy equipment, grinding tools, and power tools that you use during this process. In addition to operating in the blast booth and unloading materials, you may also be asked to help with painting or coating tasks after you have successfully removed the unwanted substances from the surface.

Successful applicantsmustbecome members of the United Association union local 527 as a Metal Trades Worker.

What You'll Do Here:

• Remove dirt, paint, grease, and other built-up material from surfaces.
• Set up and operate a blast booth or similar equipment.
• Load and unload the blast cabinet.
• Assist with painting or coating as needed.
• Apply and remove non-skid materials as needed.

Perform other related duties within the scope of the classification and Collective Agreement, as assigned.

What You Bring to the Team:

• High school diploma or GED certificate.
• Previous sandblasting experience or training.
• Experience working with or removing heavy metals a plus.

Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs independently.

Ability to stand, bend, kneel, crouch, and work in physically demanding positions for extended periods.

Ability to perform repetitive motions using power tools and blasting equipment.

Work is primarily performed in afabrication shop environment and may include exposure to dust, noise, vibrations, and industrial equipment.

Ability to work indoors and outdoors, as required, in all seasonal and weather conditions.

Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to respirators, protective clothing, gloves, hearing protection, and eye protection.

The expected pay range for this role is: $20 - $35 per hour

Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
