Job summary

The City of Maple Ridge is seeking a Paid On-Call Firefighter (POC) to join the Fire Services team. Residency within Maple Ridge and a valid driver’s license are required, with a minimum Grade 12 completion.

This on-call role supports the Fire Department in delivering vital municipal services to the community. Applicants should be prepared for a selection process including information nights, written assessments, CPAT, and interviews, with an anticipated start date in early 2027.

POSITION OVERVIEW

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada (Canadian Citizen, holders of a Permanent Resident Card, or Landed Immigrant)
  • Hold a valid Driver's license
  • Reside within Maple Ridge boundaries
  • Have a minimum Grade 12 Completion (or equivalent GED)
INFORMATION CHECKLIST

  • ICBC Driving Record
  • Copy of high school diploma or greater (e.g. college, technical or post-secondary degree)
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION IF SELECTED FOR INTERVIEW STAGE
  • Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check (the original embossed copy will be required if selected)
  • Medical clearance letter valid for the physical assessment on October 10 if selected. (Dr’s note).
ANTICIPATED RECRUITMENT TIMELINE
  • Wednesday August 26 at 18:30 hrs – Information Night – Fire Hall #1
  • Wednesday September 2 at 18:30 hrs – Information Night – Fire Hall #4
  • Wednesday September 23 – Written Assessment – Fire Hall #1
  • Saturday October 10 – Physicals or receipt of CPAT or equivalent
  • Various Days November 12, 13, 16, 17 – Potential Interviews
  • Anticipated start date early January 2027
