S&C is continuing to grow. Where do you come in? We are looking for a passionate individual to join our team as a Packer on the Afternoon Shift. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working as part of a team and wants to gain valuable work experience.

Work Arrangement: Onsite Afternoon shift: Monday - Thursday; 4:00pm - 2:00am

Work Location: 90 Belfield Road, Etobicoke. M9W 1G4

As a Packer (External Logistics) you will:

  • Construct standard packaging crates designed to package S&C products for external delivery by using power saws, drills, nail guns and other hand tools.
  • Review crate drawings and measure pieces to ensure accuracy in crate construction.
  • Use tuggers and overhead cranes to transport completed products to the crating area for packaging, placing the product on skids or crate bases.
  • Ensure the correct products and parts are packaged within the packing crate according to instructions from more senior members of the team, which may include sub-packages of smaller parts.
  • Confirm that finished products and associated components have all passed final inspections prior to packaging.
  • Use internal software applications and whiteboards to identify packing requests and shipments, respond to requests in a timely manner, and correctly document completed jobs.
  • Meet department targets and consistently adhere to quality and safety standards.
  • Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.
  • Work with departmental mentors to gain and apply feedback in pursuit of improved work quality.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Who are we looking for? Someone who:

  • 0-1 year of demonstrated experience in carpentry, woodworking, or related experience that requires the use of power tools.
  • Basic carpentry skills with a general understanding of how to construct simple wooden supports, such as pallets and crates.
  • Good attention to detail, with the ability to determine accurate order quantities and specifications consistently.
  • Ability to work independently and meet requirements of assigned handling requests.
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to articulate information efficiently and effectively to team members in a variety of production support departments.
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to review and respond to requests via internal applications.
  • Basic math skills with the ability to calculate quantities and weights.
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to understand and complete requests given by team members inside and outside of the department.
  • Capable of embracing diversity and equity to ensure they contribute to a respectful and inclusive workplace.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments such as scales and tape measures.
  • Ability and willingness to follow Health Safety & Environment procedures accurately, reporting concerns promptly to the safety action team.

Preferred:

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • High School Graduate.
  • Safety at Heights Training.
  • Experience in woodworking, carpentry, or a related area.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement manufacturing principles.
