Duties and Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prospecting and Networking: Identify and target potential customers through networking events, industry conferences, and cold calling to expand the customer base.
  • Face-to-Face Meetings: Schedule and conduct face-to-face meetings with potential and existing customers to understand their needs, present product demonstrations, and negotiate deals.
  • Relationship Building: Cultivate strong relationships with customers by providing personalized attention, addressing their concerns, and offering solutions that meet their business objectives.
  • Market Intelligence: Gather market intelligence by staying informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to identify new opportunities for business growth.
  • Travel: Travel to customer sites, attend meetings and training, and participate in events within the assigned territory to maintain a visible presence and develop rapport with customers.
  • Sales Reporting: Prepare regular sales reports, including forecasts, pipeline updates, and activity summaries, to track progress towards targets and provide insights to management.
  • Negotiation: Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms of sale with customers to secure profitable deals while maintaining customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Lead Generation: Use various methods such as cold calling, email campaigns, and social media to generate leads and identify potential customers.
  • Sales Presentations: Conduct sales presentations remotely via phone, video conferencing, or online platforms to showcase products or services to potential customers.
  • Customer Engagement: Build relationships with customers through regular communication, understanding their needs, and providing solutions to meet those needs.
  • Quoting and Pricing: Prepare and provide quotes to customers, negotiate pricing, and terms of sale to secure orders.
  • Follow-up: Follow up with leads and customers to ensure satisfaction, address any concerns, and upsell or cross-sell additional products or services.
  • CRM Management: Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, update contact information, and track sales activities using a customer relationship management (CRM) system.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with the outside sales team, marketing department, and other internal stakeholders to maximize sales opportunities and achieve targets.
  • Product Expertise: Maintain a deep understanding of the company's products or services, including features, benefits, and competitive advantages, to effectively communicate value propositions to customers.
  • Additional Duties as required by Manager
Job Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of experience in sales or business development preferred (knowledge of packaging and distribution is advantageous)
  • Prior experience in solution-based selling is a plus
  • Proficiency with an ERP system and above-average knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Exceptional customer service skills combined with active listening abilities and meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills for interactions with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation abilities, with a knack for delivering compelling presentations
  • Proactive approach and ability to work autonomously
  • Effective organizational and time management skills
  • Commitment to personal and professional growth
  • Proficiency in data analysis to inform discussions and achieve objectives
  • Comfortable in a dynamic and rapidly evolving environment, adept at navigating and resolving ambiguity
