Job summary

General Dynamics Land Systems–Canada is seeking a Packaging Design Specialist for a 2-year fixed-term assignment in London, Ontario. The role involves designing packaging with NX, creating IDRs and military specification documents, and producing precise drawings for new or existing packaging.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of CAD experience, strong communication and team collaboration skills, and the ability to work shifts.

Qualifications

Packaging Design Specialist (P54) 2 year fixed term assignment

Key Job Elements:

• Design using NX packaging solutions in accordance with applicable military standards
• Complete Item Description Reports (IDRs)
• Prepare very detailed Military Specification coded documentation for various customers
• Create drawings of items within newly designed or existing packaging containers
• Track the status of completion of any packaging data development
• Job requires ability to work shifts and / or altered work weeks as required
• Assume responsibility for special assignments and tasks
• Maintain safe work practices and use / wear proper safety equipment
• Locate, weigh, measure and analyze military vehicle spare parts.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 - 5 years relevant experience
• Demonstrated CAD skills
• Ability to design, draw and prototype new packaging designs
• Proficient communication, organization and prioritization skills
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, multi-task and take initiative

• Experienced/trained with the Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Expertise in NX and Teamcenter
• Mechanical design and product development experience
• Thorough knowledge of applicable military packaging and labeling standards
• A hands-on packaging design capable individual who can produce high-quality output in a priority changing environment
