Job summary

Optiv Energy Canada Inc. is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to act as the owner's representative on utility-scale solar and BESS projects in Ontario. You will oversee EPC contractor work on site, report progress, and recommend improvements to safety, quality, and scheduling.

This role focuses on repowering projects with module replacements and related upgrades. On the field side you will coach crews, inspect work, and maintain the safety program, training records, and incident

Qualifications

• 8+ years of construction experience including 3+ years on utility-scale solar, BESS, wind, substation, or comparable electrical projects.
• Ability to read drawings and spot field problems.
• Knowledge of OHSA, O. Reg. 213/91, and Ontario inspection processes.
• Clear, direct communication and reporting skills.
• Valid driver’s license and legal entitlement to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Site oversight: ensure EPC work matches drawings and specs.
• Progress reporting: maintain logs, weekly status updates, risks.
• Safety and quality: monitor safety practices and quality records.
• Operating sites: oversee outages, isolation, lockout/tagout.
• Document review: assess submittals, RFIs, change requests, progress claims.
• Improvement: suggest sequencing, safety, and quality improvements.
• Commissioning and handover: witness tests, track punch lists, turnover docs.
