Job summary

Halton Women’s Place in Burlington, Ontario, seeks a Part-time Crisis Intervention Counsellor to provide overnight and weekend crisis support, safety planning, and practical assistance to women and children in shelter. You will work from a feminist, trauma-informed framework, maintain client records, and support referral pathways.

Responsibilities include intake, risk assessments, and collaboration with community partners while upholding confidentiality and an equity‑driven service approach.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Social Work or Social Service Worker Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with trauma-informed care and anti-oppressive practice.
• Ability to communicate in a language other than English is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, emotional support, and practical assistance to women in shelter and over the crisis and support telephone line and webchat.
• Conduct client intake interviews and assess risk, needs, and eligibility for admission to shelter.
• Develop and update individualized safety plans in collaboration with clients.
• Maintain accurate client records in the information system and ensure privacy protocols.
• Support shelter operations, coordinate referrals, and work from a feminist, trauma-informed framework.
