Position Summary
We are currently seeking an Outside Contract Sales team member with a focus on drywall, insulation, steel studs, and ceiling systems for the Mid-North Vancouver Island area. Slegg has been in business for over 75 years and is part of the GMS family of companies, trading under the stock symbol GMS on the NYSE. Slegg Building Materials offers a competitive salary of $60,000 - $70,000 plus commission structure, use of a Company vehicle, cell phone, paid business expenses, and extended health & benefits plan.
Key Responsibilities
- Focus on core products such as drywall, insulation, steel studs, and ceiling systems.
- Customer satisfaction, increased revenue generation, and business development initiatives which align with our vision and values are the primary responsibilities.
- Build strong customer relationships through jobsite visits, reliable call backs, follow up on deliveries and quotes, and project timeline to forecast material needs.
- Quote projects, enter delivery orders and place special orders.
- Become a Slegg Ambassador in the building community by participating in functions and developing relationships that go beyond the expected.
- Follow up on potential new business leads to grow your business.
- Participate in quarterly inventory counts.
- Respect and obey safety policies and procedures in our yard and on jobsites.
- All other duties as directed by the GSD Sales Manager.
Basic Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of drywall, insulation, steel studs, and ceiling systems.
- Have knowledge of the building code and keep updated on changes that may affect the products and services that Slegg provides.
- Fundamental understanding of specifications and drawings.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with personnel at all at all levels.
- Proven ability to develop and foster strong relationships with customers and vendors.
- Competitive and entrepreneurial attitude.
- Self-motivated and detail orientated.
- Exceptional problem solving and negotiation skills.
- Strong time management and organization.
