Job summary

Tetra Tech, Inc. is seeking a Waste Sorter to join its Solid Waste Management team in Vancouver, BC. This short-term hourly position involves collecting and sorting waste samples from households and commercial properties, recording data, and weighing samples.

An orientation and health and safety training are provided, with potential contract extension to 2027. The role operates up to 40 hours weekly from November 16 to December 12, 2026, with a wage of $24 per hour, including training.

Qualifications

• Own transportation to Vancouver sites is required.
• Wears CSA Green Triangle steel-toed boots or can acquire before first day.
• Able to lift up to 20 kg and perform outdoor labor in varied weather.
• Good judgment, safe work methods, and reliability.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada.
• Class 5 driver’s license is an asset.
• Experience with waste composition studies or solid waste management is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Physically collect and sort waste samples into defined categories.
• Weigh samples, record data, and take observations with photos.
• Work outdoors in varied weather, standing and lifting up to 20 kg.
• Follow internal procedures, safety rules, and industry standards.
• Pursue ongoing professional development and maintain safety awareness.
• Perform additional duties as required.
