Job summary

Toromont Cat in Ottawa seeks an experienced Machine Sales Representative to support business development and customer relationships in the region. The role focuses on heavy construction and equipment sales, building long-term partnerships in a competitive market.

The incumbent will manage the full sales cycle, demonstrate equipment solutions to contractors, prepare quotations, and maintain accurate forecasts and records, with growth opportunities across Eastern Canada.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of outside sales experience, preferably in heavy construction and/or equipment sales.
• Strong understanding of construction markets, contractors, and jobsite requirements.
• Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
• Bilingual in English and French (spoken and written) preferred.
• Must reside in the Ottawa region.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
• Self-motivated with excellent time management and organizational abilities.
• Customer-focused mindset with a consultative sales approach.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers in the heavy construction and equipment markets, identify new business opportunities and grow market share within the assigned territory.
• Promote, demonstrate, and sell equipment and related solutions to contractors and key accounts.
• Prepare and present quotations, proposals, and sales presentations.
• Manage the full sales cycle, from lead generation through to closing.
• Maintain accurate sales forecasts, customer records, and activity reports.
• Coordinate with internal teams (service, parts, operations) to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Stay informed on market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs.
