Job summary

Kal Tire in Ottawa is seeking an experienced OTR Tire Technician/Commercial Service Technician to join our Commercial Store team. You will inspect, repair, and replace OTR tires on a wide range of equipment and service commercial truck and trailer tires.

Job description

Kal Tire is looking for an experienced OTR Tire Technician/Commercial Service Technician to join our Ottawa Commercial Store team. In this role, you will inspect, repair, and replace OTR tires on a wide range of equipment, as well as service commercial truck and trailer tires. You’ll work on everything from compact loaders and transport vehicles to some of the largest heavy‑duty and industrial machines. Your schedule will be On-Call Rotation shifts (includes nights and weekends).

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections, maintenance, repairs, and replacements of OTR tires on mining, construction, industrial, and heavy‑duty equipment.
• Perform tire mounting, dismounting, and wheel assembly services for OTR applications.
• Provide on‑site fleet service, roadside assistance, and emergency field support as required.
• Operate service trucks, tire handling equipment, and specialized OTR tools safely and efficiently.
• Interact with customers professionally, addressing concerns and recommending appropriate tire solutions.
• Communicate clearly regarding services performed, inspection findings, and maintenance recommendations.
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain compliance with company and customer site safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s Licence (DZ licence is considered an asset).
• Experience in commercial tire service, OTR tire service, or a related field preferred.
• Ability to inspect, diagnose, and service OTR tires and wheel assemblies safely and effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in performing tire services.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and performing demanding manual labour.
• Safety‑focused and committed to following PPE and safe work procedures.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather and job site conditions.
• Ability to work flexible hours and respond to emergency roadside or after‑hours service calls when required.
