BC Ferries offshore Fleet Renewal presents an OT/IT Lead role in Victoria to guide the design and integration of operational technology, automation, data management, and cybersecurity for new vessels and shore infrastructure. You will align OT/IT with corporate standards, collaborate with project teams, shipyards, and vendors, and drive architecture decisions.
The role requires strong IT/OT expertise, 5+ years in OT, and collaboration across disciplines, with occasional travel and sea projects.

In order toaddress the challenges brought on by constrained system capacity, aging major assets, and environmental sustainability, BC Ferrieshas recently launcheda new Fleet Renewalorganization.Thisteamwilldelivera large number ofnew major and minor vesselsto the fleet in the near term,as well as significant builds and upgrades toshore-based infrastructure and facilities.These projects together form the largest capital investment in the company’s history.
Working as part of the Fleet Renewal technical team and reporting through its technical leadership structure, the OT/IT Lead contributes toFleet Renewal’s shipbuilding andinfrastructureproject requirements, specifications,and designs. The role oversees the design and integration of operational technology systems on new BC Ferries vessels, including automation,data management,cyber security,and integrationof these capabilitiesinto the overall vessel design.
As a subject matter expert, the OT/IT Lead provides professional and technical guidance tointernalproject teams,shipyards,suppliers,and site teams on planning, design, regulatory requirements, engineeringprinciples, acceptancetesting, and requirementsmanagement. The roleserves as the primary liaison between Fleet Renewal and the BC Ferries IT Division, aligningOT/ITandbusiness capabilities withFleet Renewalrequirements and corporatestandards, while supporting communication and issue resolution wherearchitecture,cyber risk management,and adoption ofnewdigitaltechnologiesintersect with vesseland infrastructure projectdelivery.The role hasaccountability forOT/IT implementation, architecture decisions,andcybersecurity controls.TheITgovernanceremainswith theappropriate ITDivision owners.
The OT/IT Lead must occasionally travel and work outside the local geographic area, including internationally, and onboard ships at sea.

The target salary range:$105,200 –$131,500per annum.The starting salary isdeterminedbased on the successful candidate’s knowledgeandexperience, andoninternal equity.
