Job summary

Job description

Job Responsibilities
  1. Develop project plans; coordinate projects (scheduling and tracking); communicate changes and progress; complete projects on time and within budget; manage project team activities.
  2. Recruit and manage subcontractors.
  3. Cost Consciousness is a MUST - Work within approved budget; develop and implement cost-saving measures; contribute to profits and revenue; conserve organizational resources by managing budgets aligned with business goals.
  4. Oversee the installation and/or relocation of aerial and underground cables, including OSP fiber optic cables, ensuring compliance with industry standards, technical reliability, and cost efficiency.
  5. Mentor and manage the productivity of multiple crews (directional drill crews, mini crews, vac crews); provide guidance and support during all construction phases.
  6. Direct the performance of construction craft personnel, ensuring adherence to safety procedures and proper use of safety equipment during aerial and underground construction.
  7. Ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA standards, municipal ordinances, and legal regulations.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Safety-oriented mindset.
  • Knowledge of underground, aerial, and OSP fiber optic construction methods.
  • Established relationships with subcontractors and ability to engage them promptly.
  • Proven experience with OSP aerial fiber optic cable construction.
  • Understanding of directional drill locators; hands-on experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of bore chemical mixtures and soil conditions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills; fluency in English; bilingual abilities are a plus but not required.
  • Effective listening and communication skills with co-workers, customers, inspectors, and the public.
  • Ability to multitask effectively.
  • Comfortable working with multiple groups within the business.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean record; CDL preferred.
  • Physical ability to walk on uneven ground and perform duties safely and efficiently.
  • Willingness to work in all weather conditions and travel as needed.
